The
Circuits-of-Power Framework for Studying Power in Institutionalization
of Information Systems
Journal of the Association for Information Systems
Volume 4 Article 14 November, 2003
James
Backhouse and Leiser Silva have published a paper on the topic of
power and information systems in the Journal of the Association
of Information Systems. The article which appears in the November
issue of 2003 investigates the Circuits of Power Framework, developed
from Stuart Clegg, a political scientist, as a viable method for
the study of power.
The authors
set out in detail how the framework may be adopted by researchers
and the hope is that it will be tested out in many future field
studies. In the social science approach to information security
there is a real need for the aspect of power and responsibility
to be firmly addressed. This theoretical and methodological development
might fill a gap.
