The Circuits-of-Power Framework for Studying Power in Institutionalization of Information Systems

James Backhouse and Leiser Silva have published a paper on the topic of power and information systems in the Journal of the Association of Information Systems. The article which appears in the November issue of 2003 investigates the Circuits of Power Framework, developed from Stuart Clegg, a political scientist, as a viable method for the study of power.

The authors set out in detail how the framework may be adopted by researchers and the hope is that it will be tested out in many future field studies. In the social science approach to information security there is a real need for the aspect of power and responsibility to be firmly addressed. This theoretical and methodological development might fill a gap.
